Chelsea are ready to ruin Manchester United’s transfer plans. The Red Devils were preparing for a midfield overhaul in January. Ruben Amorim wanted to add a midfielder.
However, the Portuguese boss knows that the budget is limited. That is why a major midfield signing will only happen in the summer.
That is why he wants to keep the core of the squad in January. The last thing he wants is to lose one of his key players.
Now, Amorim’s substitutions are getting criticised by pundits and fans. He has not been bringing in the right players at the right time.
This has made United drop multiple points this season in the Premier League. So, Chelsea have made one Manchester United player that Amorim regularly ignores as their target for January.
The Blues have signed Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United this summer. The Argentine also had problems with Amorim.
Now, one of his former teammates could be in line to join him at Stamford Bridge. According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are eyeing a move for Kobbie Mainoo.
Enzo Maresca wants to reduce the load from Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo. That is why they are looking to sign a midfielder.
Along with Mainoo, they are also looking at Adam Wharton of Crystal Palace. Now, Wharton is also a target for Manchester United.
If Chelsea do end up signing Mainoo, Amorim will demand a replacement. Then, Wharton will become an obvious choice for United.
However, with Amorim not trusting Mainoo, United will not want Chelsea to sign Wharton for sure.
🚨 Chelsea are planning to sign a midfielder with Enzo Maresca looking to ease the load currently being placed on Moisés Caicedo and Enzo Fernández at the heart of midfield.
They’ve got two names at the very top of their shortlist:
