Manchester United ready to sell their best player to arrange funds for next summer

Manchester United appear to be planning ahead.

Ruben Amorim, Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Manchester United are reportedly planning to sell their best player in the summer transfer window. The move would be aimed at generating funds for further recruitment.

The Red Devils spent more than £200 million on new signings last summer. INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe backed Ruben Amorim heavily during the window.

Despite that spending, there were rumours that the might leave. Those reports suggested United were open to cashing in to fund a broader rebuild. In the end, the midfielder stayed.

Ruben Amorim is demanding midfield reinforcements. The Red Devils are eyeing a move for players like Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, and Adam Wharton.

Now, United will have to pay a significant fee to sign any of their main midfield targets in the summer. That is why they need to arrange funds.

The way they are planning to arrange funds is by selling their best player, which can have backlash from fans.

According to Football Insider, Manchester United are not ruling out his exit of Bruno Fernandes. The club are not publicly shutting down talk of a sale because the decision was made months ago.

As per the report, the intention is to sell Fernandes and then use the funds elsewhere.

Recently, Fernandes admitted he felt hurt by the situation. He said he believed the club were willing to let him leave.

Speaking about interest from Saudi Arabia, the United captain said he never pushed for a move. He explained that his connection with the club played a major role in his decision to stay.

However, he also admitted he felt money mattered more to the club at one stage. He said that feeling made him sad, especially given his commitment and availability.

For now, Manchester United appear to be planning ahead. Fernandes remains central on the pitch, but his long term future looks uncertain.
