Manchester United are considering another managerial option following the departure of Ruben Amorim.

Amorim was dismissed after publicly criticising the board over transfer targets. His comments followed a 1–1 draw with Leeds. Less than 24 hours later, United acted.

The club deny any power struggle. They maintain Amorim had full backing. However, his public outburst accelerated the decision.

For now, Manchester United remain sixth in the table. The board are confident of securing European qualification.

Now, they are looking to find a new manager. Some reports suggest that the Red Devils might look for a permanent manager in the summer.

Currently, Darren Fletcher will take charge of United as the interim manager. However, Manchester United have already began their search for a new permanent boss.

As per The Sun, one potential successor now being discussed is Oliver Glasner, currently in charge of Crystal Palace. United figures admire the work Glasner has done at Crystal Palace.

The Austrian coach has been in charge at Selhurst Park for the past two years. His current contract is due to expire in the summer.

Last season, Glasner guided Palace to their first FA Cup triumph. The victory came against Manchester City.

This season, however, Palace are currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table. Also, Glasner is not expected to sign a new deal.

He has previously voiced frustration over Palace’s lack of recruitment during the summer window. That situation has fuelled uncertainty around his future.

Tactically, Glasner often uses a 3-4-2-1 system. It is the same shape Amorim was reluctant to move away from during his time at Old Trafford.

Despite that similarity, United insist they have not made any decision. United want players capable of operating in multiple systems. The club do not want a coach tied to one rigid setup.

Insiders have also reiterated that the next head coach will work within the existing structure.

The role will not sit above the leadership team. That stance reinforces backing for director of football Jason Wilcox.

Glasner is not the only option that the Red Devils are monitoring. United have also tracked Andoni Iraola at Bournemouth and Fabian Hurzeler at Brighton.

Also, Transfer News Live already revealed that Xavi would be ready to take up the job at United if they consider him.

United have not made any direct approach to anyone and they have not started any formal talks with any potential candidates.
