Things are going horribly wrong for Manchester United. After sacking Ruben Amorim, they appointed Michael Carrick as the interim manager.
But before Amorim left, he exposed the United bosses. He revealed the limited role he had at the club.
The Portuguese was just a head coach and not a manager. As a result, the Manchester United board was not ready to sign the players he wanted.
Amorim screamed for a midfielder. However, it seemed that the board had already given up on this season and was planning for the next summer.
The former Benfica boss wanted to sign a midfielder to ensure Champions League football for the Red Devils. However, when things looked out of control, he gave that explosive interview.
Amorim pointed out multiple midfield targets that United could have targeted this January. But they decided against signing a midfielder in January.
And now, one of those midfielders is signing for the rivals of the Red Devils. According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal with Atletico Madrid for Conor Gallagher.
Aston Villa also agreed a fee, but the Spurs hijacked the deal, and Gallagher gave the green light to a move to North London.
However, a signing like Gallagher could have easily improved the quality on the pitch for the Red Devils. Now, it will be interesting to see what they will do for the rest of the January window.
🚨💣 Conor Gallagher to Tottenham, here we go! The player has just informed Atléti about his decision to join #THFC.
Spurs set to pay €40m fee, permanent deal to beat Villa.
