Manchester United could be approaching another uncomfortable decision in the transfer market, with one midfield signing now edging closer to the exit door.
Throughout the season, the midfield has been the weakest part of Manchester United. Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes played in the midfield for the most part of this season.
However, the two veterans struggled to keep control of the games. Also, Manuel Ugarte has been far from convincing.
And the lack of minutes under Ruben Amorim for Kobbie Mainoo didn’t help either. As a result, it is for sure that United need to sign midfielder.
For that to happen, they need to let some of their existing midfielders and one of them is not standing in front of the exit door.
According to Turkish journalist Yakup Cinar, Manuel Ugarte is expected to leave Manchester United before the end of the current window.
The Uruguayan midfielder arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024, but his transition to Premier League football has been far from smooth.
United invested heavily in the deal at the request of Jason Wilcox, committing more than £50 million, including add-ons. Now, United are open to a sale.
However, there is hesitation about sanctioning an exit without securing a replacement, particularly given the limited opportunities available during the winter window.
There has been interest from across Europe, including the likes of Ajax and Napoli. However, it is Galatasaray who are currently leading the race.
The Turkish reporter Yakup Cinar has gone as far as stating the midfielder will “100%” leave United this month.
Galatasaray are pushing for a loan deal with an option to buy. But United would prefer a permanent transfer or, at minimum, an obligation to purchase.
Meanwhile, as per reports, Ugarte has agreed personal terms with the Istanbul giants, increasing pressure on United to compromise.
