Manchester United’s win against Manchester City in the Derby will give them confidence going ahead this season.
However, in terms of transfer activity in January, United have been disappointing. They needed a midfielder. But the board is yet to land one.
Many names are flying around as the potential targets for United. Reportedly, they even submitted a bid for Ruben Neves.
However, the Red Devils have failed to land a midfielder so far. Apart from Neves, there are also eyeing a move for Joao Gomes of Wolves.
But, they are priority targets for United. Under INEOS, Manchester United are planning to secure their long-term future.
Ruben Neves is 28 years old. So, the Portuguese cannot become a long-term solution for United’s midfield.
Also, Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, and Manuel Ugarte are linked with a move away from the club. So, they will be looking for reinforcements.
That is why Manchester United are adding potential targets to their list because they might look to add at least two midfielders next summer.
Targets such as Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, and Adam Wharton will only become available in the summer. That is why United are ready to wait.
However, they have added another name to this list. In fact, they have opened talks with the midfielder for a possible switch to Old Trafford from Camp Nou.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Manchester United have held talks with Marc Casado of Barcelona. The La Masia graduate is highly regarded at United.
This season, the Spaniard has already made 19 appearances for Hansi Flick’s side. His contract with Barcelona runs until 2028.
Apart from Manchester United, Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the 22-year-old as they look for a replacement for Conor Gallagher, who joined Tottenham Hotspur this January.
So, a transfer battle could be brewing between Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.
