Since Michael Carrick took charge of Manchester United, their fortunes have changed. When Ruben Amorim was in charge, they lost to Arsenal at Old Trafford and to Manchester City at the Etihad.
So, with Carrick in charge, nobody gave United a chance to get anything from his first two games as they were against the Citizens at Old Trafford and the Gunners at the Emirates.
However, the Manchester United legend came out of both fixtures with flying colours. As a result, United can now confidently stay in the race for the Champions League qualification next season.
Now, they are also preparing for the summer transfer window. And, one Manchester United outcast will draw attention. So, the Red Devils could finally be nearing the end of the Andre Onana chapter.
The Cameroon international looks set to leave Old Trafford permanently in the summer, with fresh reports suggesting that his representatives have already opened discussions with Inter Milan.
According to the Daily Mail, members of Onana’s entourage have travelled to Milan to hold talks over multiple “potential deals”, with Inter emerging as one of the clubs exploring a move.
The Serie A side are planning for life after Yann Sommer, who turns 37 this year and is out of contract in the summer. Now, Onana’s Manchester United career has unravelled quickly.
He has not featured for Manchester United since the shock Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town back in August. By that point, he had already lost his Premier League starting spot to Altay Bayındır.
The Cameroonian moved to Trabzonspor on loan after United signed the young Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens on deadline day.
The Red Devils invested around £18.2 million to bring Lammens in from Royal Antwerp. That figure is far lower than the £47.2 million spent on Onana in 2023.
With Inter now opening talks and United firmly looking ahead, Onana’s exit feels inevitable.
