Arsenal have kept their quadruple dream alive with a late win against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg.
The Gunners are leading the Premier League table by six points, and they finished at the top of the Champions League table.
Also, they will host Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the FA Cup. So, it is fair to say that Mikel Arteta’s team is having a fantastic season so far.
And they laid the groundwork for this season last summer when they signed some brilliant players. So, the bench strength will not be a problem for Arteta this season, unlike in the previous ones.
Now, Arsenal have already started planning for next summer. They had a quiet January window. However, on the deadline day, they did sign a player.
But they failed to sign the player they desperately wanted as a cover for the injured Mikel Merino. Arsenal wanted Sandro Tonali as a replacement for Mikel Merino.
However, Newcastle United were not ready to listen to offers for the Italian. However, things could change in the summer if the Magpies fail to secure Champions League football.
According to The Sun, Arsenal will once again try to sign Sandro Tonali in the summer. His agent, Giuseppe Riso, denied claims that they had a conversation with the Gunners for a January move.
“We never had any conversation with Arsenal. Newcastle were never gonna let Tonali leave in January. There’s absolutely nothing into it. We didn’t even talk about it.
“It’s not even being discussed now. We will see around March about Sandro’s valuation but only if Newcastle decide to open doors.
“He’s completely focused on Newcastle’s season now, it’s nonsense topic.”
Now, if Arsenal try to sign Tonali in the summer, they will face competition from Chelsea and Manchester City. Both clubs will be monitoring his situation at Newcastle.
