Arsenal had a great summer transfer window last year. They signed several quality players, for which they are now dominating in both domestic and European competitions.
So, Mikel Arteta knows the importance of having a great summer transfer window. That is why the Spaniard is already preparing plans for the next summer along with Andrea Berta.
Arsenal have already identified the first player they will look to sign next summer. However, Arteta wants to sign multiple players. They want to repeat the business they did last summer.
That is why they are placing the names of their transfer wishlist. And they have added another name to their list of targets. The Gunners did try to sign the player in January.
It was expected that the Gunners would have a quiet January transfer window because of the transfer business they did in the summer.
However, because of an injury to Mikel Merino, they had to go back to the market to find a replacement, as the Spaniard will be out for months.
So, they tried to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United. However, the Magpies were not ready to listen to offers for the Italian.
That is why they had to switch their attention to a Bayern Munich star whose contract will expire next summer.
Thus, the Gunners could easily sign him next summer. According to Christian Falk on CF Bayern Insider, Arsenal were looking to sign Leon Goretzka before the deadline day.
Now, the Premier League leaders are expected to go back for the Bayern Munich star. However, Andrea Berta will have competition from his previous club for this deal.
Atletico Madrid are also tracking the player and were close to signing the German international in January. Also, Tottenham Hotspur could try to sign Goretzka.
For Arsenal, signing a player like Leon Goretzka will once again be a statement, as the German can easily improve Arteta’s squad.
