Arsenal have been quietly laying the groundwork for a marquee signing this summer.
With Mikel Arteta eager to elevate the club’s attacking power, the Gunners are now considering a bold move that could reshape their frontline ahead of next season.
The London side, fresh off another strong domestic campaign, appear ready to go big.
Their top brass have identified a forward playing in Spain who has struggled with consistency but is still seen as a player with immense upside.
The player’s recent challenges at his current club, Real Madrid, including muscle injuries and uncertainty over his role under a new manager, Xabi Alonso, have left the door open for an ambitious bid from the Gunners.
As reported by SPORT, Arsenal are preparing a formal offer of €70 million for the Real Madrid attacker.
Sources close to the situation claim the proposal is nearly ready and could be submitted in the coming days, depending on how the Spanish giants respond to early interest.
The winger in question endured a difficult end to the 2024/25 season, both physically and mentally.
Though the club never officially confirmed the extent of his injuries, insiders suggest that muscle fatigue and stress kept him from hitting top form.
With Xabi Alonso now set to take over as manager, the player’s long-term role in Madrid remains unclear, especially with the club’s attacking depth continuing to grow.
The player Arsenal are targeting is none other than Rodrygo.
Just 24 years old, the Brazilian has already proven his quality on the biggest stages, but may now need a fresh environment to regain his best form.
Arteta believes Rodrygo could thrive in the Premier League and offer the creativity and directness Arsenal have occasionally lacked in key moments.
For now, the ball is in Real Madrid’s court. But with Arsenal willing to go all in, this could be one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.
