Bayern Munich may be preparing to back their manager Vincent Kompany and shake up the summer transfer market once again.
But, this time, they are turning their attention to a player currently under the spotlight in England.
With a new project taking shape in Bavaria, the club has identified a need for more firepower out wide, and discussions are already underway behind the scenes.
The German champions are no strangers to bold moves, but this particular target signals a change in direction.
Instead of looking to the Bundesliga or the usual pool of Serie A talents, Bayern have started exploring the Premier League and they are doing so with intent.
According to Sport 1, Bayern have set aside a significant transfer budget between €49 million and €60 million to spend on one standout player.
That budget could now be fully focused on one individual, as contact has already been made with the winger’s representatives.
While Bayer Leverkusen have kept their interest quiet, Bayern are pushing ahead. The Florian Wirtz saga is preventing Erik ten Hag’s side to spend a huge money on a single player.
Their financial muscle gives Bayern an edge over Bayer who may hesitate when it comes to meeting the player’s current market value unless Wirtz to Liverpool saga gets over.
There is also belief within the Bayern setup that this deal could move quickly if the right signals come from the player’s camp.
The name attracting all this attention is Antony. The Manchester United winger has had a mixed spell at Old Trafford, showing moments of brilliance but often lacking consistency.
However, he caught the eyes of multiple European giants after his successful loan spell with Real Betis. Antony helped the Lal Liga side reached the final of the Conference League.
Still, the talent is there and Bayern believe a change of environment could help unlock it.
Manchester United are reportedly open to parting ways with the Brazilian if the right offer arrives. With Bayern now involved, that moment could be fast approaching.
