Manchester United will be scouting the market for a midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window. The Red Devils will have a gigantic task of replacing Casemiro.

The Brazilian has one of United’s best players this season, along with Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo. However, Casemiro is not the only midfielder they might have to replace.

There is a huge possibility that Manuel Ugarte might leave the club next summer. In January, multiple Turkish clubs made an enquiry about the Uruguayan.

Since joining the club in 2024, the former PSG midfielder failed to cement his place in the first team. His game time has been limited at Old Trafford.

This season, Ugarte has made around 20 appearances and 11 of them have been off the bench. That is why he wants to move to a club where he can become a more prominent figure in the midfield.

So, Manchester United might have to look for at least two midfielders because both South Americans might leave with Casemiro’s departure is certain.

Now, the Red Devils have multiple names on their wishlist. Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba, and Adam Wharton are the top names on their list of midfield targets.

Also, they have added Amadou Onana from Aston Villa to that list. United are primarily seeking midfielders with Premier League experience. That is why they also have Sandro Tonali on their list.

However, they are also open to signing midfielders from other countries. Now, they have also added a midfielder from La Liga to their list of midfield targets.

According to Foot Mercato, Manchester United have set their sights on Pape Gueye from Villarreal. The Senegal international has impressed with his performance against Morocco in the AFCON final.

Gueye’s contract with Villarreal is valid until 2028, and the Spanish club would want at least €60 million for the 27-year-old.

Manchester United have not made an official approach yet. However, they will surely keep an eye on the impressive Senegalese midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window.
