After impressive performances in the Championship with Burnley, Manchester City re-signed James Trafford last summer. They paid £31 million in transfer fee, which is the British record for a goalkeeper.
Trafford was expecting to become the number one goalkeeper for the Citizens. He had no idea that Manchester City would sign Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Initially, he started games for City. But after Donnarumma joined the club, he became a backup goalkeeper. As a result, he is not happy with his situation at the Etihad Stadium.
That is why James Trafford is looking for a move away from the club. Now, many Premier League clubs are eyeing a move for Trafford.
There is no doubt about his potential. However, dislodging Donnarumma will be an uphill task for him. So, moving away from the Etihad Stadium will be a good move for him.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are accelerating a move to sign James Trafford from Manchester City. Now, the Spurs are already looking to sign a goalkeeper.
The North London club are already looking to part ways with Guglielmo Vicario. They have already set their sights on a former Manchester United goalkeeper.
However, the Spurs are not the only club that would like to sign James Trafford. Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also ready to pursue a move for the player.
Newcastle were interested in signing Trafford before he picked Manchester City over them. Now, they are ready to make the move once they get the green light from James Trafford.
So, if Tottenham are serious about signing James Trafford, then they would have to be quick. Also, the Spurs need to ensure they stay in the Premier League.
There is no doubt that next summer, multiple clubs will be eyeing a move for James Trafford. But currently, Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race.
