Manchester United are targeting midfielders next summer. And if they can secure Champions League football, then they will have a large purse in the transfer market.
So, signing players like Carlos Baleba, Elliot Anderson, and Adam Wharton will not be a problem for the Red Devils. However, they need to convince these players now to join them.
In the last decade, United have lost their charm quite a bit. They are no longer dominating the Premier League. Their rivals, Manchester City, have taken that baton from them.
So, it is no doubt that when both Manchester clubs go after a player, currently, that player will most likely pick the blue side of the city.
This happened in January when Antoine Semenyo picked Manchester City over United. So, something similar could have happened next summer.
Transfer News Live already reported that Elliot Anderson has picked Manchester City as his next destination. However, there is an unexpected twist to this story.
According to Football Insider, Manchester City are now planning to re-sign Felix Nmecha as an alternative to Elliot Anderson.
The former academy player of Manchester City has been fantastic for Borussia Dortmund this season. In 37 appearances for the German club this season, he has scored 5 times and assisted 3 times.
So, if Manchester City move for Nmecha, then their rivals may end up signing their primary midfield target next summer.
Thus, Manchester United have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Elliot Anderson next summer.
🚨 Manchester City are considering a move to re-sign Felix Nmecha as an alternative target to Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson.
