The ongoing Iran-US conflict has now started to create a negative impact on football in the Middle East.
Recently, news broke regarding an Iranian attack on the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Now, the embassy is quite close to the residence of Cristiano Ronaldo.
That is why many outlets were reporting that the Portuguese legend had left Saudi Arabia on his private jet after the Iranian attack.
As per those reports, Ronaldo was residing in Madrid along with his family. Now, his current club, Al-Nassr, has issued an update on X regarding those rumours.
The Saudi Pro League club has posted Cristiano Ronaldo’s pictures on X showing he was training with his Al-Nassr teammates and recovering from the injury he suffered recently.
Also, a few hours before Al-Nassr released these pictures, journalist Fabrizio Romano posted an update on the matter saying those reports on Ronaldo leaving Saudi Arabia are ‘wide of mark’.
He also confirmed that ‘Cristiano has not left Saudi to return to Madrid’. The Portuguese international recently suffered an injury that has put a question mark on his World Cup participation.
So, these images of him training will be seen as a positive sign towards his recovery. Also, Al-Nassr need Cristiano Ronaldo on the pitch as they are leading the Saudi Pro League table.
The Riyadh-based club’s next match will be against Neom as they look to stay at the top of the table.
