Mikel Arteta was dancing with joy after Arsenal secured their spot in the Champions League final by defeating Atletico Madrid.
It will be the second time in their history that the Gunners will play in the final of Europe’s biggest club football tournament.
The last time they played the Champions League final was in 2006 against Barcelona. The Gunners lost that game to the Catalan giants.
However, this time, Mikel Arteta will be looking to ensure they come out triumphant in Budapest. They already know their opponent in the final.
PSG qualified for the final in consecutive seasons after defeating Bayern Munich on aggregate. The Parisians are the defending champions of the competition.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will also have their eyes on the Premier League. They are currently leading the table by five points, and Everton did a massive favour to the Gunners by stopping Manchester City.
Now, the Gunners can win the league if they can perform the way they have been performing in recent times. Now, it is worth mentioning that the City have a game in hand.
Still, Arsenal are having a fairly successful season because they are in the hunt for multiple trophies. That is why their board have made a massive decision on Mikel Arteta’s future.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are planning to offer Mikel Arteta a new deal. They have already made their intentions clear since March.
Also, as per Romano, Arteta loves the project at Arsenal and would be happy to continue leading it. So, there should not be any problem in agreeing on a new deal with the Spaniard.
Thus, it looks like Mikel Arteta will be staying at Arsenal for a long time, regardless of what happens in the Premier League title race or at Budapest.
🚨 Understand Arsenal are planning to offer Mikel Arteta a new contract in the summer.
Plan already decided in March regardless of end of the season results.
Arteta wants to focus on titles now but in love with Arsenal project and looking forward to talks.
