Arsenal supporters flooded around the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night after finally witnessing the moment they had waited more than two decades to see.
The Gunners officially secured the Premier League title after Manchester City dropped points against Bournemouth, leaving Mikel Arteta’s side four points clear with only one match remaining.
Although Arsenal did not even play, celebrations immediately erupted across north London.
Fans gathered outside the Emirates and partied late into the night after watching the club win the Premier League for the first time in 22 years.
Several Arsenal players also celebrated together at London Colney after finally ending years of frustration and near misses.
For the past few seasons, Arsenal repeatedly came close before falling short in the title race.
Rival supporters regularly mocked the club and labelled Arteta’s side as ‘bottle jobs’ after previous collapses.
Now, after finally lifting the trophy, Arsenal players are beginning to answer those critics. Bukayo Saka delivered one of the strongest responses during the celebrations.
The England international appeared in a video shared by teammate Jurrien Timber on Instagram beside a blacked-out electronic Premier League trophy installed at Arsenal’s training ground. Timber said:
“Wait, what I’m about to show you.”
Then Saka responded directly to Arsenal’s critics. He said:
“Light that up! Let me tell you something: 22 years, they were laughing, they were joking. They’re NOT laughing anymore. It’s going to be shining bright!”
The electronic trophy reportedly became part of Arteta’s motivation methods at the training ground throughout the season.
Players walked past the darkened display every day while chasing the title. Now, Arsenal can finally light it up after ending one of the longest waits in the club’s history.
