Coventry City are preparing for a historic moment. The club are on the verge of returning to the Premier League after 25 years away. However, it is not just the promotion that has caught attention.
The club are also set to reward their most loyal supporters. A unique scheme introduced a few years ago is now about to pay off. Back in 2023, owner Doug King made a bold move.
The Coventry City owner offered fans a special season ticket package. Supporters paid slightly more upfront. In return, they were promised something significant.
If Coventry secured promotion within five years, their first Premier League season ticket would be free. Now, that promise is about to become reality.
According to The Sun, thousands of fans who bought into the scheme will benefit from the offer.
They can now look forward to watching top-flight football without paying for their season ticket next season. Meanwhile, the emotional impact is clear among supporters.
Now, James Morgan of the Sun Sport has also bought the special season ticket package. And he will now enjoy the privilege next season. He said:
“To watch them now in the Premier League with a FREE season ticket is just unbelievable.”
He also praised owner Doug King for transforming the club both on and off the pitch. At the same time, not all supporters will benefit.
Season ticket prices may rise for others, although the club have not confirmed the exact figures.
King has promised to remain “honest” with fans, while also stressing that they must make some sacrifices to sustain success.
Meanwhile, the club capped season tickets at 24,000 this season despite having a larger stadium capacity. That decision could now increase demand even further.
After years away, Coventry City are finally returning to the top flight. And for many fans, that return will come with a reward that makes the moment even more special.
