Tottenham Hotspur are facing one of the darkest moments in their modern history. Just a few years ago, they were competing in a Champions League final and regularly securing European football.

Now, however, survival in the Premier League has become their biggest priority. The North London side have endured a disastrous campaign this season.

Thomas Frank failed to steady the ship earlier in the campaign. Meanwhile, Igor Tudor’s interim spell quickly turned into another nightmare for the club.

That is why Tottenham eventually turned to Roberto De Zerbi in a desperate attempt to avoid relegation.

However, despite the managerial change, Spurs are still fighting for survival with only two games remaining.

They currently sit just two points above West Ham United and now face a difficult trip to Stamford Bridge before ending the season against Everton.

With the pressure mounting around the club, the former Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has finally decided to speak publicly about the ongoing crisis.

Levy left the club abruptly last September after nearly 25 years in charge and has now broken his silence on the club’s shocking situation.

After receiving a CBE at Buckingham Palace, Levy spoke to Sky Sports about Tottenham’s relegation battle. He said:

“All I’m focused on is making sure Tottenham stays in the Premier League.

“I could never have envisaged this at the beginning of the season. Obviously incredibly disappointed but let’s look forward and very much hope we’ll see them in the Premier League.

“I’m feeling the pain. But I’m optimistic we will get through it.”

Levy also admitted watching Spurs struggle this season has been extremely painful. He added:

“It’s been a very, very difficult (watch). But Spurs is in my blood and I’m hopeful that we will be ok in the end.”
