Chelsea will be without Enzo Fernandez for two games. They have already played one game against Port Vale in the FA Cup, which they cruised to victory by 7-0.
However, the next one will be a big game. The Blues will host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. The Citizens are fighting for the Premier League title.
So, not having Fernandez in a game of this magnitude will be a massive loss for Chelsea. However, the Argentine is not injured. The club have banned him for two games.
The reason for this ban is an interview where he said that apart from London, he would like to live in Madrid. Now, the timing of that statement has made things controversial.
Chelsea were knocked out by PSG in the Champions League, and it was a humiliating defeat for the Blues. Also, his post-match statements gave a hint that he might leave next summer.
Real Madrid are showing interest in signing the player. So, everything was against Fernandez and Liam Rosenior had to take action.
Now, his agent, Javier Pastore, has spoken about the matter to Top Mercato and explained the current situation. He said:
“We’ve already talked about this in recent days. These are statements he made without any intention of causing problems at Chelsea.
“He’s the captain, one of the team’s leaders, and he’s shown his best form on the pitch this season. He was simply talking about a city.
“Then there were a lot of interviews in a short period where he talked about his future. The media mixed things up and started saying he was going to leave Chelsea. There’s absolutely nothing to it.
“We’re on the same page with Chelsea. We made peace yesterday and the day before between Chelsea and the player. There were never really any problems. We cleared the air. “
Transfer News Live already revealed that the Blues were planning to give Fernandez an improved contract. So, this could be another hint towards extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.
