Fabian Hurzeler slams Mikel Arteta after losing to Arsenal

Arsenal defeated Brighton and Hove Albion by 1-0 at the AMEX Stadium to increase their lead at the top of the table by seven points as Manchester City dropped points against Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners have played an extra game than the Citizens. But still, a healthy seven-point lead will ensure that Mikel Arteta’s team enter the last few games with confidence.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League in the last two decades. So, they are now favourites to win the title. However, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler was unimpressed by Mike Arteta’s team.

In fact, the Brighton manager heavily criticised the Arsenal manager, saying that he would never become a manager like Arteta and win games the way he did.

During the post-match press conference, Hurzeler was highly critical of the approach of Arteta’s team, saying that his team only played football in that match. The Brighton boss said:

“I think there was only one team who tried to play football today and therefore I’m proud of how they did it. I will never be that kind of manager who tries to win in that way.

“I want to do well. I want my players to keep improving, keep playing football on the pitch.

“In the end, of course, every team will manage and waste time, but I think there has to be a limit, and the limit has to be set by the Premier League.

“The limit has to be set by the referees, at the moment they just do what they want.”

Arsenal will face Mansfield Town in the FA Cup fourth round tie on Saturday, and after that, they will travel to the BayArena to face Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League round of 16 clash.
