Arsenal’s victory in the North London derby carried enough drama on its own. But the noise did not end when the final whistle blew at the Emirates.
Gabriel Magalhaes spent the game on the sidelines. The defender picked up a muscle injury during international duty and needs around a month to recover.
He watched from the stands as Arsenal dismantled Tottenham 4-1, with Eberechi Eze delivering a sensational hat-trick.
However, the story took a different turn once the celebrations moved online. The moment he opened Instagram, Gabriel decided he had unfinished business.
In July, Richarlison posted a picture of his Man of the Match award after a pre-season win over Arsenal.
He tagged Gabriel for no clear reason except banter. Gabriel hit back at the time by sharing three Player of the Match awards he earned in league meetings with Spurs.
Now, after the first derby of the Premier League season, Gabriel delivered his biggest response yet.
Meanwhile, Eze’s hat-trick gave Arsenal a comfortable win. Richarlison scored a stunning long-range lob, but the day belonged to the Gunners. So Gabriel used the moment to send his message.
Still, he kept things cheeky but clever. He posed for a picture wearing Eze’s shirt and an Arsenal scarf.
Gabriel held the signed match ball, Eze’s Player of the Match trophy, and his own Arsenal Player of the Month award. He added just two emojis in the caption.
What took things to the next level is that he tagged Richarlison. Fans noticed immediately. They filled the comments with laughter and disbelief.
One fan wrote that Gabriel “got back to Richarlison”. Another said they “died” when they saw the tag.
So, the next North London derby in the Premier League will take place in February next year.
Tottenham will be the host for that game and Richarlison will be eyeing a reply to Gabriel in that game.
