When Harry Maguire signed for Manchester United in 2019, he was the most expensive defender at the time.
The Red Devils paid a whopping £80 million to sign the England defender from Leicester City. Since then, so many things have happened between him and United.
Maguire was the captain of the club until the former manager Erik ten Hag stripped him in 2023. It was expected that the England star would leave Old Trafford after that.
However, the defender kept on fighting for his position, and now, he is on his last year of his deal at United.
Now, Ruben Amorim and the Manchester United hierarchy are both impressed by the fighting attitude of Harry Maguire.
That is why they are ready to give him a new deal. But Maguire has set a condition that he wants United to fulfil before he signs the new deal.
Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr are looking to sign the defender once his deal expires at Old Trafford. As per reports, Maguire could earn around £500,000 per week if he moves to the Middle East.
Now, the 32-year-old is ready to give this offer a thought. But, he is also open to staying at Manchester United and signing a new deal.
So far this season, Harry Maguire has started in two games for United and came on as a substitute in 4 games.
The lack of game time would prevent him from getting into the England team for the World Cup next year.
That is why Harry Maguire wants to wait and see how important he is to Ruben Amorim. He wants to be a starter for United.
According to The Mirror, Harry Maguire wants to play regularly for the team. That is one condition he will be setting if Manchester United wants him to renew his contract.
At the age of 32 and with Lisandro Martinez coming back, it will be difficult for Maguire to be a regular starter.
There is no doubt that Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martinez would be the preferred back three for Amorim.
So, it will be interesting to see whether Manchester United can meet Maguire’s playing demands. Otherwise, a move to Saudi Arabia will be on the cards for the 32-year-old.
