Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager, Igor Tudor, will be in the dugout for his first game when the Spurs host Arsenal in the north London derby.
The Spurs will be hoping that the former Juventus manager will have the same effect as Michael Carrick had when he took charge of Manchester United as an interim manager.
Carrick’s first game in charge was against Manchester City, and United won the game after dominating Pep Guardiola’s men at Old Trafford.
Similarly, Tudor will have a home derby against the Gunners. And the Spurs will hope that the Croatian would have the same impact.
However, Tudor’s challenge is much tougher than Carrick’s. The 47-year-old will miss 12 first-team players ahead of the north London derby.
There were also question marks about the availability of Dominic Solanke ahead of the game. But the new Spurs boss confirmed his availability during his pre-match press conference. He said (via the Standard):
“Dominic (Solanke) had a problem with his throat, but he made two days of training.”
Igor Tudor will also miss his captain, Cristian Romero. He is serving a four-match ban following his red card against Manchester United following a dangerous tackle on Casemiro.
Furthermore, the former Tottenham boss Thomas Frank gave an optimistic answer when he was asked about the availability of Richarlison and Pedro Porro for the north London derby.
However, the Croatian informed that both players will be unavailable for the game against Arsenal. He said:
“Probably no, probably someone [will come back] next week.”
Also, there is a hope around the return of Kevin Danso and Destiny Udogie by next week. However, others will not return before April.
Igor Tudor is already planning to extend his stay in North London by giving the Spurs a strong finish towards the end of the season.
The Croatian is also planning for the summer signings as he already identified their first target. But he needs to start well with a positive result in the north London derby.
