Inter Miami have entered another major chapter after building on their historic success during the 2025 campaign.
The Florida club won their first MLS Cup last season after defeating Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 in the final.
Lionel Messi also enjoyed another outstanding year, winning both the league MVP award and Golden Boot after scoring 29 goals.
However, Inter Miami have since undergone several significant changes as they prepare for another push for major silverware.
Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba retired at the end of last year, forcing the club to strengthen several important areas.
Inter Miami responded by adding experienced players, including Sergio Reguilon, while continuing to reshape their squad around Messi.
Their latest high-profile addition has now attracted attention away from the pitch.
The club completed the signing of Casemiro on a free transfer following the midfielder’s departure from Manchester United.
The 34-year-old arrived after scoring nine Premier League goals during his final season at Old Trafford.
However, Major League Soccer have now opened an official review involving Inter Miami following his arrival.
The league is reviewing a tampering allegation against Inter Miami and is gathering all relevant information.
The governing body has confirmed that it will make no further comment until the review has been completed.
Meanwhile, Inter Miami and LA Galaxy have already reached a settlement regarding the Discovery priority to sign Casemiro.
However, MLS will only release the terms of that agreement once the tampering investigation has concluded.
Casemiro had attracted interest from several clubs after leaving Manchester United at the end of his contract. Instead, he chose to move to Major League Soccer and link up with Messi in Miami.
However, the off-field situation will now remain under scrutiny until MLS completes its review.
