Inter Miami continue to reshape their squad after another disappointing end to their continental ambitions.
The club fell short in the Concacaf Champions Cup once again and entered the summer determined to strengthen key positions around Lionel Messi.
The Florida side moved quickly in the market. Inter Miami signed Canadian goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair to become their new first-choice stopper.
The club also completed a deal for former Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilón to add experience on the left side of defence. However, the recruitment drive is not over yet.
As per MARCA, Inter Miami have now turned their attention towards one of the surprise stars of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Cape Verde captain Vozinha has emerged as a serious target for the MLS club.
The veteran goalkeeper captured global attention with a series of outstanding performances in North America.
He helped Cape Verde reach the knockout rounds for the first time in the country’s history. He also came close to eliminating Lionel Messi’s Argentina in a dramatic Round of 32 clash.
Inter Miami believe his experience could prove invaluable inside the dressing room. The club also wants stronger competition for St. Clair as they prepare for another demanding campaign.
Vozinha currently remains available on a free transfer after leaving Portuguese club G.D. Chaves at the end of his contract.
Brazilian clubs Avai and Atletico Goianiense have already made contact with the goalkeeper.
However, the opportunity to play alongside Messi could give Inter Miami a significant advantage in negotiations.
Vozinha has built an impressive career across Africa and Europe. He represented clubs in Angola, Cyprus, Slovakia and Portugal before becoming a national icon in Cape Verde.
He also established himself as his country’s most-capped goalkeeper and led the Blue Sharks at several AFCON tournaments.
Now, after an unforgettable World Cup campaign, the 40-year-old could be preparing for one final challenge in Major League Soccer.
