Vozinha became one of the biggest stories of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after inspiring Cape Verde to a historic run.
The veteran goalkeeper produced a series of outstanding performances throughout the tournament and quickly established himself as one of its standout players.
The 40-year-old finished the competition with 18 saves in four matches. He also earned a place in the official FIFA World Cup Dream Team after helping Cape Verde reach the Round of 32.
His remarkable displays transformed his career and attracted attention from clubs around the world. Vozinha entered the World Cup as a free agent after his contract with Chaves expired.
Strong rumours linked him with a move to Inter Miami during the tournament. However, the experienced goalkeeper instead chose to continue his career in South America.
Club president Anibal Mosa confirmed that Vozinha agreed to join Chilean giants Colo-Colo on an 18-month contract.
The move will almost triple his previous salary as he prepares for the next chapter of his career.
However, according to The Sun, Vozinha might have to change the name on the back of his shirt because Chilean Primera Division rules do not allow players to use nicknames.
Under the current regulations, players must wear one or both of their surnames on their shirts, with an initial if they prefer.
If Vozinha wears his famous nickname, he would automatically receive a yellow card and Colo-Colo would get fined.
The goalkeeper’s birth name is Josimar Jose Evora Dias. It means he would have to wear ‘Evora’, ‘Dias’ or ‘Evora Dias’ unless the rules are changed.
Pablo Milad, president of the Chilean FA, confirmed that Colo-Colo have already requested an exemption from the rule.
