Luis Suarez is a controversial name in English football. The Uruguayan was a key player for Liverpool during their tough times.
However, during those times, Suarez played 133 games and scored 82 goals. That is why Barcelona were keen to sign him.
During his stint at Liverpool from 2010 to 2014, Suarez was involved in many controversies.
In 2011, Suarez had to serve an eight-match ban after he was found guilty of racially abusing Patrice Evra.
The Uruguayan got a 10-match ban when he bit Branislav Ivanovic of Chelsea on the shoulder at Stamford Bridge.
Also, he has been involved in many such controversies and has served bans on multiple occasions.
Currently, Suarez plays for Inter Miami, the club where Lionel Messi plays. And the 38-year-old has once again got his name in a controversy.
It seems Luis Suarez has spat on the coaching staff of Seattle Sounders, the team that defeated Inter Miami in the Leagues Cup final 3-0.
Following the defeat, both sets of players got involved in a melee. However, it seems that moments after the scuffle, the Uruguayan was involved in an altercation with a coaching member of the Sounders.
During the altercation, his teammate, Oscar Ustari, tried to hold him back. However, before moving away from the scene, it seemed that the Uruguayan had spat on the coaching staff.
After the game, the manager of the Seattle Sounders, Brian Schmetzer, said (via BBC):
“Unfortunately, that is going to take some of the attention away from a great performance by the Seattle Sounders.
“Their players were frustrated and that led to some things happening on the field that shouldn’t happen on the field.”
Javier Mascherano, the Inter Miami boss, also said:
“Nobody likes for there to be these types of actions. Maybe there was provocation, but I don’t know what happened.”
It will be interesting to see what happens after this incident, whether he gets banned again or gets away with it this time.
