Manchester United have continued their summer rebuild by completing an agreement to bring another promising talent to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have already strengthened Michael Carrick’s senior squad significantly after securing Champions League football with a third-place finish last season.
Meanwhile, United have added Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos to their midfield options during a busy summer transfer window.
However, the club are also strengthening their academy by targeting some of the most highly rated young players available.
Their latest move has now taken them directly to local rivals Manchester City, with an agreement completed for one of their promising midfield talents.
According to Attacking Football, Manchester United have completed a deal to sign 16-year-old midfielder David Eze from Manchester City.
The Dublin-born youngster will leave City and continue his development within United’s academy setup at Carrington.
Eze has built a strong reputation as a powerful box-to-box midfielder who can carry the ball forward and escape pressure.
Moreover, the youngster can break opposition lines with the ball while also contributing through his distribution and defensive work.
His development has already earned him opportunities above his age group, with Eze featuring several times at under-17 level.
Furthermore, he has captained England’s under-16 side on multiple occasions despite still being at an early stage of his development.
United may also continue recruiting from Manchester City’s academy after securing their agreement for Eze.
Reports suggest that the Red Devils are pushing to sign another highly rated City academy prospect, Karim Cassim.
Negotiations for Cassim have progressed significantly, with the potential deal described as very advanced and likely to happen.
The club could now oversee their development at Carrington as both players are likely to begin the next stage of their career after leaving Manchester City.
