Manchester United handed huge Lisandro Martinez injury boost

Martinez could soon be the only name left in United’s treatment room.

Manchester United have been handed a huge injury boost. The Red Devils are hopeful that Lisandro Martinez will finally return to action sooner rather than later.

The Argentine defender has been out since February after suffering a serious knee injury.

Since then, he has missed 33 matches across all competitions. Yet, recent updates suggest that his comeback is getting closer.

According to The Sun, Manchester United expect Martinez to return after the November international break.

If all goes according to plan, he could feature against Everton on November 24.

That match could mark the beginning of his full return, just before the busy winter period.

The 27-year-old has already resumed light training but has not yet rejoined full sessions with the squad.

The club have been cautious. They are refusing to give an exact date for his return. However, optimism is growing that he will be fit in time for the year’s final fixtures.

Manchester United will end November with a trip to Crystal Palace. After that, they will play a home game against West Ham United to start December.

The Argentine’s comeback would provide much-needed defensive stability for Ruben Amorim, especially with key games piling up.

Martinez joined United from Ajax in 2022 and has since made 91 appearances, scoring three goals and assisting three more.

Speaking earlier this season (via The Sun), Amorim praised Martinez’s leadership and intensity. He said:

“We miss Licha a lot, especially in this moment. We miss his aggression and energy in everything he does. He is always around, even in meetings and training sessions. I think we need Licha in this team.”

Meanwhile, Noussair Mazraoui remains the only other injured player in the squad. The Moroccan might come back after the October international break.

If that happens, Martinez could soon be the only name left in United’s treatment room. It will be a welcome change for Amorim after months of injury frustrations.
