Manchester United are set to pay additional fees for one of their key summer signings as the season approaches its final stages.
The deal, which was already significant, could now rise further due to performance-based clauses. The Red Devils invested heavily last summer to strengthen their attack.
They signed Mateus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko to bolster their frontline. And they are already reaping benefits as they near Champions League qualification.
Sesko arrived at Old Trafford in a deal worth £74 million, and expectations were high from the start. So far, he has delivered important contributions in crucial moments.
Most recently, he scored the winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Brentford on Monday night.
That strike marked his 11th goal for the club since joining, which highlights his growing influence in the team. However, the financial implications of the transfer are now becoming clearer.
According to Philipp Hinze, RB Leipzig will receive close to £3.5 million in bonus payments after Sesko’s first season in the Premier League.
These add-ons are tied to several factors, including the number of appearances from Sesko and his goal tally.
Also, Manchester United’s Champions League qualification could further increase the total amount. Meanwhile, the agreement between the two clubs also includes a unique clause.
Manchester United will face RB Leipzig in a pre-season friendly in the coming years. All revenue generated from that match will go directly to the German club.
Sesko has already scored ten Premier League goals in his debut campaign. Interestingly, eight of those have come since Ruben Amorim left his role in January.
The victory over Brentford pushed the club 11 points clear of Brighton in the race for European qualification. Now, just one more win could secure their return to the Champions League.
