Manchester United star wants to leave the club in January

There is one player who can play this role perfectly.

Ruben Amorim

Manchester United started their 2025/26 campaign with disappointments. First, they lost to Arsenal at Old Trafford in their first game.

After that, they squandered their lead against Fulham at Craven Cottage to salvage a point. Then, Grimbsby Town eliminated Manchester United from the EFL Cup.

Pressure was piling up on Ruben Amorim ahead of the fixture against Sunderland last week. However, United were again to dispatch the Black Cats and save Amorim’s job for the time being.

However, just like fans, some players are also unhappy with their situation. Manchester United have a number of players who can play in the midfield.

Amorim prefers to start Bruno Fernandes alongside Casemiro. This is not the ideal position for the Manchester United captain.

That is why he is struggling under the new system of the Portuguese manager. However, there is one player who can play this role perfectly.

But, he is not getting the game time he wanted to have prior to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. That is why Kobbie Mainoo wanted to leave on loan this summer.

Napoli wanted to sign Mainoo. And the United academy graduate would have loved to play under Antonio Conte.

Mainoo has seen the rise of Scott McTominay under Conte. Also, Rasmus Hojlund is now thriving in Naples after leaving United on loan this summer.

The England international wanted the same for him before the World Cup. Mainoo wants to be a part of the England setup in the world cup.

However, for that, he needs to play more. So far this season, the 20-year-old is yet to start a Premier League game for Manchester United.

In the Premier League, Mainoo has played just 113 minutes in 5 games. This will not be enough if he wants to play for England in the World Cup.

That is why, as per Centredevils, Kobbie Mainoo is not happy, and he will be looking to leave the club on loan in January. Multiple clubs across Europe will be looking to add the midfielder to their ranks.

If things don’t change at Old Trafford, Kobbie Mainoo might have to finish the season elsewhere.
