Mason Mount’s Manchester United career has not gone according to plan since his arrival from Chelsea in 2023.
Injuries, inconsistent form, and constant changes at the club have prevented the midfielder from establishing himself as a regular starter.
The 26-year-old arrived at Old Trafford with huge expectations after United paid £60 million to secure his signature from Chelsea.
He was also got the famous number seven shirt, which only increased the pressure surrounding him. However, Mount has struggled to build momentum during his time at the club.
The England international missed nine matches through injury this season. Manchester United also decided to manage his fitness carefully because of his previous injury problems.
As a result, his opportunities under Michael Carrick have remained limited. Mount only made his first start under Carrick during last week’s goalless draw against Sunderland.
It was also only the third time he completed 90 minutes in a match this season. Despite the difficult campaign, Mount has now made a major decision regarding his future.
According to The Sun, the midfielder wants to remain at Manchester United next season and fight for his place in the squad.
Mason Mount was linked with a move to a Premier League club this summer. But Samuel Luckhurst claims Mount still believes he can become an important player for the club moving forward.
His situation could improve significantly this summer as Manchester United prepare for major changes in midfield.
Casemiro and Jadon Sancho will leave Old Trafford, while the club also hope to sell Marcus Rashford to reduce the wage bill further.
Meanwhile, Joshua Zirkzee is also likely to depart this summer. United are planning to sign at least two midfielders during the transfer window and could add another if Manuel Ugarte leaves the club.
Now, after another frustrating campaign, Mount appears ready to stay and fight for his future at Old Trafford despite increasing uncertainty around several other players in the squad.
