Manchester United had a successful outing against Aston Villa, as Michael Carrick’s men took a firm grip on the third spot on the Premier League table.

The Red Devils took the lead in the second half as Casemiro put them in front from a Bruno Fernandes corner. Soon after, Ross Barkley equalised for the Villans.

But the Manchester United captain played another brilliant pass to register his second assist of the game to Matheus Cunha, who brought the lead back for United.

Soon after that, substitute Benjamin Sesko clinched the game for the Red Devils. And with Liverpool drawing against Tottenham Hotspur, the Red Devils are now five points clear inside the top 4.

Now, many fans were expecting to see a young Manchester United star getting some game time for the senior team. However, it seems a Premier League rule will be stopping him from doing so.

So, fans hoping to see him in the Premier League will have to wait a little longer. JJ Gabriel has impressed coaches and teammates with his performances in the academy system.

The rule became a talking point shortly after Arsenal’s Max Dowman made headlines. The teenage forward became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history at 16 years and 73 days.

However, Manchester United cannot use him this season because of the league’s age rules and especially, his date of birth.

Gabriel has produced outstanding numbers for United’s youth teams. Gabriel turned 15 in October, 2025.

According to The Mirror, Premier League rules state that a player must already be 15 before August 31 of that season to appear in league fixtures.

JJ Gabriel has scored 20 goals in 22 matches for the club’s under-18 side. Also, he has already become the youngest player to appear at that level.
