Arsenal will hope to keep their winning momentum when they face Brentford in a crucial Premier League clash at the Gtech Community Stadium.
The Gunners have dominated the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium since their promotion to the top flight. They have won 4 of the 5 visits away at Brentford.
The only time Arsenal lost to Brentford at this ground was in 2021, which was also the first match for the Bees in the Premier League after their promotion.
Now, Mikel Arteta is dealing with injury problems. Arsenal have a packed schedule. And that is why Arteta will have to manage the fitness of his players carefully.
The Arsenal boss sat down for the pre-match press conference ahead of the Brentford game, when he gave injury updates on key players.
Mikel Arteta ‘will see’ what happens with Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, and Leandro Trossard as the Spaniard is unsure about their availability.
Max Dowman is also recovering from an injury. The last time he played for Arsenal was against Slavia Prague in the Champions League. Arteta admitted that the 16-year-old is making progress. He said:
“Max is still not available. However, he’s doing very well.
“I think he will be with us in a week or so, and then he can pick up the rhythm and be available for us.”
Arteta also gave an update on Mikel Merino, who suffered a foot injury while playing against Manchester United. The Arsenal boss explained to the press:
“I think the doctors were really happy with the way [the surgery] went. Now it’s the start of, obviously, a long process; we’re talking about bone healing.
“So, we’ll respect the timings, and I’m sure he’s going to do everything he possibly can to speed up that recovery.
“The timeframes, we’re talking about months – whether it’s three, four or five, we don’t know.”
Mikel Arteta will hope that his team could extend their winning run at the Gtech Community Stadium to five games.
