Arsenal left Stamford Bridge without a win. After facing Chelsea, Mikel Arteta shared news about injuries to several main squad members.

The Gunners headed to Stamford Bridge following their win over Bayern Munich during the week’s Champions League match.

Mikel Arteta’s team felt strong going into this match. Also, they wanted to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points.

Still, once they lost points, they ended up ahead by five. Right now, Manchester City sits just below them, while Chelsea follows close behind.

Arsenal await updates about William Saliba’s condition, since the player will face a fresh scan this Monday after taking a hit during practice.

Saliba missed Sunday’s 1–1 match at Chelsea completely, as he got a knock just a day earlier. That’s got Mikel Arteta guessing on how long he will be out.

After the game, Arteta mentioned the team should get clearer details pretty soon. He added (quotes via The Standard):

“I think he has got another test tomorrow, Willy, see to the extent of that feeling, that sensation that he had, and we will know more.”

Arsenal are back playing this Wednesday against Brentford, and whether Saliba joins is still up in the air. Yet no one is certain if he will make it.

The Gunners had already lost their usual defender, Gabriel Magalhaes. Recovery is still ongoing due to a leg issue picked up during Brazil’s match versus Senegal earlier this month.

Arteta offered a brief update, admitting: “With Gabi, [there are] still some weeks to go.”

Since the main central defenders weren’t available, new signings Mosquera and Hincapie got their chance at Stamford Bridge, as Arsenal had to tweak how they set up out back.
