Neymar has responded angrily after facing fresh criticism from supporters during a difficult spell at Santos FC. The forward’s return to his boyhood club has not gone to plan.
Santos continue to struggle near the bottom of the table, and frustration among fans is growing. That tension spilled over again during their 3-2 defeat to Fluminense.
As Neymar walked off the pitch, sections of the crowd booed loudly. The reaction sparked an immediate response.
The Brazilian appeared to gesture towards the stands, putting his fingers in his ears as he made his way off. Many supporters interpreted that as a direct reaction to the jeers.
However, Neymar later pushed back against that claim. Posting on X, he wrote:
“The day has arrived when I have to explain an EAR SCRATCH!
“Folks, honestly, you’re going way too hard and crossing the line… it’s just too sad to have to put up with this!
“No human being can take it.”
The situation did not end there.
In footage captured after the game, Neymar reacted again during a heated exchange. He pointed towards the Santos badge before turning to a supporter and saying:
“You should train more. You’re a fat b*****d.”
“Do I have to do everything myself? Shut your f***ing mouth, please!”
Speaking later, Neymar made it clear his frustration goes beyond football.
“I’m upset about everything, about what I’ve heard from some fans.
“It wasn’t about my performance, it was about me personally, about what the media posts, about the things that come out in the media.”
Neymar has not played for Brazil since 2023 and hopes to earn a recall ahead of the World Cup.
