Neymar mocks mathematician World Cup expert after his failed predictions

The prediction expert also apologised to Dutch supporters if he had given them false hope.

Neymar enjoyed the perfect chance to respond after Brazil survived a major World Cup scare against Japan.

The Brazilian star had seen a mathematician World Cup expert predict trouble for his country before the knockout clash.

Joachim Klement had backed Japan to beat Brazil in the tournament. However, Brazil secured a dramatic 2-1 victory after scoring a stoppage-time winner. That result gave Neymar the chance to mock the prediction publicly.

The Brazilian forward did not hold back on social media after the match. Neymar said:

“Mr. Joachim Klement… please try again at the next World Cup.

“You got it wrong again.”

According to the Daily Mail, Klement had gained attention after correctly predicting the winners of the last three World Cups.

The investment strategist built a mathematical model to forecast tournament outcomes before seeing his luck run out in 2026.

His biggest prediction also collapsed when the Netherlands lost to Morocco on penalties. Klement had tipped the Dutch to win the tournament, but their campaign ended in the knockout stages.

Klement accepted the failure with humour. He wrote that he had returned to work with “serious egg” on his face and a Dutch flag at half mast.

However, he also defended the nature of his model. Klement said knockout matches remain highly unpredictable and claimed each game could have gone the other way.

The prediction expert also apologised to Dutch supporters if he had given them false hope. Still, he insisted the Netherlands had been unlucky and could win a major trophy in the future.

So, Neymar delivered the perfect response to Klement’s failed Brazil prediction. Klement’s model had built a strong reputation over three World Cups, but 2026 finally exposed its limits.
