Rasmus Hojlund and Denmark coach aim sly dig at Manchester United

Rasmus Hojlund in the latest example of that.

This summer, Manchester United sent Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli on loan after a disappointing season last summer.

However, at Naples, the Denmark striker has regained his lost form. After pairing up with his old teammate Scott McTominay and rival Kevin De Bruyne, Hojlund is scoring goals for fun.

The same cannot be said for the replacement Manchester United signed for Hojlund. Since joining United in the summer, Benjamin Sesko has scored just two goals so far.

But Hojlund has scored 4 goals in 6 games for Napoli this season. And now, questions are arising about whether Rasmus was at fault for the debacle of United last season or the players around him.

While speaking to the press (via TipsBladet), the Denmark national team head coach, Brian Riemer, took a dig at Manchester United when he said:

“I think Rasmus has the quality for both leagues, without discussion. Does he fit in Italian football? Yes. There was no doubt about that, because he had already proven that. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t fit in English football. On the contrary, I would almost say.

The fact that he is now on a well-functioning team and has players around him who take pride in doing good for others helps to make the outcome for a striker like Rasmus, who needs to be serviced. It is more important than which league you play in.”

Rasmus Hojlund has also opened up about his situation and said that he finally joined ‘a good football team’. The striker said:

“Not much has happened other than me getting into a good football team.”

The Danish striker is another example of a player flourishing after leaving Manchester United. The same is applicable to his teammate Scott McTominay.

The Scottish international is an academy product at United. However, he struggled during his time in the first team.

However, after joining Napoli last year on a permanent move, McTominay became the Most Valuable Player in the Serie A and helped Napoli win the Scudetto.

So, something might have happened at Manchester United because since leaving Old Trafford, players have shined and Rasmus Hojlund in the latest example of that.
