Manchester United will take on Bournemouth in the Premier League. This will be a very important game for the Red Devils. They must win this game.

Most of their competitors have won during the weekend’s round of fixtures. Ruben Amorim’s men are fighting for Champions League spots.

Their main competitors, as per the Premier League table, are Chelsea, Aston Villa, Liverpool, and Sunderland. All of them won their respective games.

That is why Manchester United need to win this game. Otherwise, they will fall behind in the race for Champions League qualification.

Before the game, United’s manager, Ruben Amorim, sat down for the pre-match press conference. There, he was asked one burning question.

The Portuguese boss is continuously facing criticisms because he doesn’t pick academy players. Kobbie Mainoo is one player who is not happy with the minutes he is getting this season.

That is why the England international might look for a move away from the club in January. So, reporters asked Ruben Amorim about why he doesn’t pick United academy players.

The Portuguese boss replied by saying how United’s current academy players are doing this season. Amorim said:

“Toby Collyer is not playing at West Brom. Harry Amass is struggling in Championship. Chido is not always starter in the U21s.”

Amorim defended his decision by saying that he played academy players when he was on the verge of getting sacked.

Also, he said that he will play academy players when the time will be right. Ruben Amorim said:

“I played them when people said: sack the manager. You can see I’m not worried. I want to win. If he’s the right guy, I will put him in.”

It will be interesting to see whether Amorim plays any academy players in their next Bournemouth game.
