The story of Wrexham has been one of the most inspirational ones in recent English football history. Wrexham was languishing in the fourth division of the English football pyramid.
However, Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over the club for just £2.5 million in 2021. Since then, the club has crawled back to the Championship.
Reynolds has always shown his love for the club. Now, he has once again shown his love for Wrexham after the club’s thrilling victory against Charlton Athletic.
The Hollywood actor shared an emotional video that captured manager Phil Parkinson’s passionate celebration after the final whistle at the Racecourse Ground.
A late penalty from Josh Windass sealed a 1-0 win, earning Wrexham their third straight home victory and extending their unbeaten league run to five matches.
Moreover, the result lifted the club to 13th in the Championship, only four points shy of the playoff spots.
After the final whistle, Parkinson turned towards the Mold Road Stand and pumped his fists with emotion.
The Deadpool star posted the clip on Instagram to his 51 million followers, accompanied by the caption: “This Town. This heart. Forever.”
The short video highlighted just how much the club means to him and how far they have come in recent years.
Furthermore, under Parkinson’s leadership, the Red Dragons have achieved an extraordinary run of success with three promotions in a row.
The decisive moment came against Charlton in the 77th minute when Onel Hernandez handled the ball in the box, and Windass converted from the spot for his fifth goal of the season.
Earlier this season, Parkinson had faced criticism after a slow start, with rumours even suggesting his job was under threat.
However, the recent turnaround has silenced those doubts, and Reynolds’ heartfelt post shows his unwavering support for the manager.
Wrexham will now look to continue their fine form when they travel to face Ipswich Town on November 22 before returning home to host Bristol City on November 26.
