After winning the FA Cup last season, nobody imagined that Manchester United would have such a miserable season.
They finished 16th in the Premier League table. Also, they failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season after losing to Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Europa League final.
The Red Devils had to bring in a new manager towards the half point in the season.
However, there was one man who was keeping the hopes of Man Utd fans up and that was the captain of the club, Bruno Fernandes.
And there was no surprise when he was awarded the Player of the Season at the club.
Now, Manchester United are in a precarious situation. With a new manager at the helm, they need to sign players to rebuild a squad that can bring back the glory days.
But, without European football next season, they have a slim purse to spend.
That is why they need to cash in with their star players reluctantly to give Ruben Amorim a chance to produce positive results next season.
The player who can bring in the most money for the club is none other than Bruno Fernandes.
The Portuguese midfielder is attracting interest from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.
According to reports, Al-Hilal have made a huge bid to Manchester United for Fernandes.
They are also offering close to £700,000-a-week in wages over a three-year contract for the 30-year-old to make the move to Saudi Arabia.
Ruben Amorim doesn’t want to sell his best player at any cost, however, the Financial Fair Play rules might compel United to sell their captain.
And it is now being reported that Al-Hilal don’t want to wait any longer for his answer. According to Ben Jacobs, the Saudi Arabian club want an answer by Thursday.
Manchester United will target players this summer who would suit Ruben Amorim’s style of football and in order to fund such moves, they may need to let the likes of Bruno Fernandes leave the club.
