Manchester United signed Antony from Ajax in 2022. The Red Devils paid a massive £85 million to the Dutch side for the signature of the Brazilian.
So, there were high expectations from the Sao Paulo native. He was brilliant for Ajax and that is why Manchester United paid that fee.
Also, we shouldn’t forget that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, back then, was adamant to sign the Brazilian.
Antony played 82 games for Ajax and scored 24 goals and provided 22 assists. However, for Manchester United he played 96 games and scored only 12 goals and provided 5 assists.
Antony signed for Ajax from his native club Sao Paulo in 2020. The Dutch side paid €15 million plus €3.2 million in add-ons.
At that time, Antony was one of the highest purchases in Eredivisie’s history.
Ajax got their money’s worth. Antony not only performed but also brought in a large amount due to his move to Manchester United.
The same cannot be said about Manchester United. The Red Devils had to send him on loan to Real Betis last season, where he revived his career.
Now, Manchester United are looking to sell the Brazilian permanently. They are not looking for a loan deal as United need money to buy new players.
Antony is already attracting interest from Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. Meanwhile, the Saudi side is not the only club looking for the 25-year-old.
Manchester United are looking for offers of around £50 million to sell Antony. Meanwhile, he has attracted interest from his homeland.
According to Antenados no Futebol, Antony received offers from both Sao Paulo and Botafogo. But the Brazilian has rejected both offers as he doesn’t want to return to Brazil at this stage.
With Al-Nassr keeping a close eye on Antony’s situation, the Brazilian could be on his way to the Saudi Pro League next.
