Arsenal have had a great transfer window so far. But the Gunners are not done yet. They are looking to sign a new defender.
Jakub Kiwior is getting interest from FC Porto. The Portuguese club has made a couple of bids. Arsenal expect Porto to bid again.
Kiwior is also looking to join Porto and get game time. In fact, most players are looking to have as much game time as possible this season.
Almost every player has a keen eye on the World Cup next year in the USA. To get picked for their respective national teams, they need to play well for their clubs.
That is why many players are leaving clubs this summer to find a place where they can get enough game time to impress their national team’s manager.
With that said, if Kiwior leaves the Gunners, then Andrea Berta needs to find a replacement. This summer, Arsenal have been a step ahead all the time.
So, even before Kiwior decided to leave the Emirates, the Gunners have a player in their mind they can sign as his replacement.
The interesting part in this is that Tottenham Hotspur are also targeting the same player. Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are in direct talks to sign Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen.
The Ecuadorian has chosen Arsenal as his next destination and is waiting for both clubs to agree on a deal. Arsenal are proposing a loan with an obligation to buy.
Once the deal is agreed with Leverkusen, Arsenal will let Jakub Kiwior leave for FC Porto.
