Arsenal are making strong progress in their efforts to sign a goalkeeper who brings valuable experience and a winning background to the squad.
According to Sky Sports, the North London club are expected to trigger a modest release clause worth £5 million to secure the player’s services from Chelsea.
Last season, this goalkeeper spent his time on loan at a club that enjoyed its best-ever finish in the Premier League.
Starting 35 league games with that club, he played a vital role in their success. His consistent performances between the sticks have caught the attention of Arsenal’s recruitment team.
What stands out most to Mikel Arteta and his staff is not just the player’s ability but his attitude.
Reports suggest the goalkeeper has shown a strong desire to fight for his place and has been willing to adjust his wage demands to make a move north of London possible.
The addition is timely for Arsenal, who recently secured a permanent deal for their current number one, but saw their backup goalkeeper return to his parent club after a loan spell.
This has created a clear need for experienced cover in the goalkeeping department.
If the move goes through, this signing will bring competition to David Raya, who has become a key figure at Arsenal since his loan turned permanent.
The new arrival’s blend of top-level experience and hunger to prove himself could prove a valuable asset as the Gunners look to strengthen their squad ahead of a busy season.
After featuring prominently in his loan club’s impressive campaign, this goalkeeper is ready for a fresh challenge, and Arsenal appear to be the club willing to offer him that opportunity. The player in question is Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The former Real Madrid goalkeeper has also won a Champions League during his time with the Los Blancos.
Having spent last season on loan at Bournemouth, Kepa Arrizabalaga now looks set to continue his Premier League journey with Arsenal, where his attitude and experience will be tested under the bright lights of the Emirates Stadium.
