Arsenal have received a massive boost in their pursuit of a defender. The Gunners will have a busy summer transfer window.
Apart from signing players, they will focus on letting players go. And they are already creating a list of players that they might sell next summer.
Now, one of the positions the Gunners might look to strengthen next summer is the defence. And they are tracking a centre-back from the Bundesliga.
According to Christian Falk, the Gunners have now received a massive boost in their pursuit of Castello Lukeba.
The RB Leipzig defender has become a target for multiple clubs across Europe. And one of those clubs targeting the player was Bayern Munich.
However, according to the latest report, the German champions are unlikely to join the bidding war with the Gunners.
As a result, Arsenal are now firm favourites to sign the centre-back. However, negotiations with Leipzig will not be easy for the English club.
The 23-year-old’s contract with the German club is valid until 2029. However, his contract has a release clause of around £69 million.
However, Leipzig are reportedly ready to accept a lower fee for the players. The report suggests that a bid of around £52 million would be enough to secure a deal for Lukeba.
So, it will be interesting to see whether the Gunners pay that amount or try to lower the fee even further. Also, there are interests from other top Premier League clubs for Lukeba.
🚨 Arsenal have been handed a boost in the race to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Castello Lukeba with Bayern Munich unlikely to enter the bidding.
He has a £69M release clause in his contract, but Leipzig may accept bids around the £52M mark.
