It’s been a season of deja vu for Arsenal, following a third consecutive 2nd place finish and no trophies to show for their efforts.
Despite a very respectable run in Europe, ultimately the Gunners fell short to PSG and failed to make in-roads in either domestic cup competition.
Ultimately their Premier League campaign was halted by 14 draws, with only Everton managing more.
All the talk this season was about Arsenal’s lack of potency up front, and when Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz both suffered season ending injuries in the winter, it looked to be a familiar tale for Mikel Arteta and Arsenal fans.
However, could the striker woes finally be about to end for Arsenal fans?
It’s been reported this afternoon from Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, that Arsenal are now in “concrete talks” to sign RB Leipzig centre forward Benjamin Sesko this summer.
The Slovenian is widely reported to have a €80m release clause this summer, with many top clubs linked to his highly sought after signature.
Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres and Alexander Isak, and had a £40m bid rejected in January for Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
However, new Director of Football Andrea Berta looks to have a firm eye on the RB Leipzig forward, who has bagged 14 goals in the Bundesliga this season.
RB Leipzig failed to qualify for the Champions League this season, and will be desperate to keep hold of their key players.
However with plenty of money available for Arsenal this summer, it seems inevitable their overdue wait for a striker will finally come to an end.
