Last summer, Arsenal had an amazing transfer window. The Gunners signed eight players. It was the first transfer window for the North London club under Andrea Berta.
They signed Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze, Martín Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga, and Piero Hincapie.
Now, if any club signs four of these eight players, they would consider it a successful transfer window. The Gunners spent around £263 million to sign these eight players.
Because of the success they had in the transfer market last summer, they are enjoying success on the pitch as well. The Gunners are currently at the top of the Premier League table.
They will also face Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup and are still alive in the Champions League and the FA Cup. Now, they are once again preparing for the summer.
Mikel Arteta and Andrea Berta are setting their sights on potential targets for the Gunners. They have already identified the player they would like to sign first next summer.
However, they are also monitoring a Newcastle United star. But they will face competition from Manchester United and Liverpool as well.
But according to The Sun, Arsenal are currently leading the race to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle. His contract with the Magpies is valid until 2029.
Now, Arsenal are mainly looking at Gordon to strengthen their left wing. Also, it could be an indication that Gabriel Martinelli could leave the club next summer.
Newcastle will be asking for a fee of around £95 million as the report. However, the Gummers are likely to pay a fee of around £75 to £80 million.
The Magpies signed Gordon from Everton in 2023. Since then, he has made over 100 appearances for the club.
With both Manchester United and Liverpool monitoring Gordon, this transfer race may not be as simple as it seems for Arsenal.
