Last summer, Arsenal spent £250 million and signed eight players. Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, and Eberechi Eze were among those players.
Now, this is a clear and obvious reason why Arsenal are doing so well this season, both domestically and in Europe. The Gunners needed to act smart if they wanted to compete with Manchester City.
Also, Liverpool spent around £450 million, which is almost double that of the Gunners. But Arsenal were smart in signing players. They didn’t go for big-money players.
Andrea Berta and Mikel Arteta wanted players who would add value to their squad. And they knew that the price of players doesn’t always reflect the quality.
That is why the duo want to repeat the same magic for the Gunners next summer. And, they are already making plans to make the next summer another successful one.
They are looking to sign a top player who will be available for free next summer. According to Greame Bailey on TEAMtalk, Arsenal have held talks with the representatives of Leon Goretzka.
The German midfielder has been one of the most decorated midfielders in Europe. He has won multiple Bundesliga titles, along with a Champions League title with Bayern Munich.
His contract will expire in June, and he has not renewed his contract yet. Thus, Goretzka will be on the radar of multiple top European clubs.
But the Gunners have taken the lead in this race by opening talks with the representatives of Goretzka.
Leon Goretzka’s representatives have held discussions with more than half‑a‑dozen Premier League clubs as they work to build a market for the Bayern Munich midfielder ahead of a potential summer move to England, @TEAMtalk can reveal.https://t.co/h4EB8UcIQe
