Arsenal are hoping to win a trophy next season. They have been without a major trophy since 2019.
This year, the Gunners struggled upfront. They tried Mikel Merino, Kai Havertz, Leandro Trossard, and some other players as the main target man.
However, all of them struggled to finish off chances consistently.
Arsenal are searching for a target man that can do the same that Erling Haaland does for Manchester City.
In the last summer transfer window, Arsenal were linked to many strikers in Europe.
But, they failed to sign a prolific striker who would prove to be a difference-maker for the Gunners.
As a result, Mikel Arteta had to rely on the set pieces to find the back of the net consistently.
But, such a tactic is not sustainable for a long time and Mikel Arteta found that out in a harsh way.
He lost the Premier League title to Liverpool by 10 points and the Gunners finished 2nd in the Premier League table for the third season in a row.
So, things have to change at the Emirates if Arsenal want to end their trophy drought.
Even their arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur won the UEFA Europa League after beating Manchester United to end their 17-year trophy drought.
That is why pressure is mounting for Mikel Arteta to deliver silverware and he is looking at the market to find the perfect target man who can help him win the Premier League finally.
The Arsenal boss has identified Sporting CP striker Victor Gyokores as the perfect striker to join the Emirates to win the Premier League.
According to Nicolo Schira, Arsenal have opened talks with representatives of the Swedish international. The Gunners are ready to offer a 5-year deal to Victor Gyokores.
Sporting wants €65m and the Gunners are ready to meet that asking price.
The 26-year-old has been arguably the best striker in Europe scoring 54 goals and 13 assists in 52 appearances for the Portuguese side.
That is why Arsenal are desperate to seal the deal for Victor Gyokores.
Mikel Arteta believes he could be the man who will help him lift the Premier League trophy next season.
#Arsenal are in talks with Viktor #Gyökeres’ agents to try to sign the striker, who still #AFC’s main target since September. Offered a contract until 2030. #SportingCP ask €65M to give the green light to the sale. #transfers https://t.co/st7jl3TNCn
